give to gain

Today is International Women’s Day and, guess what?..things still aren’t exactly great out here for women and girls. It’s difficult to ignore what’s happening beyond our Yorkshire bakery. Scroll for five minutes and you’ll see it: devastating conflict, crisis, and women, as ever, carrying a disproportionate share of the consequences.

Which makes running a luxury confectionery business feel like something of a privilege. We spend our days thinking about flavour combinations and glossy chocolate shells, but we can also make thoughtful choices about who we hire and where we buy our ingredients. We are a Living Wage employer with a predominantly female team, and we try to work with partners who share those values. From our chocolate supplier Veliche, a brand that actively supports women in cocoa farming communities, to the women-owned services we choose from tech support to making our boxes, these decisions matter.

Ethical purchasing helps, of course. But we know that many women are dealing with something far more immediate. How to feed their children.

This year’s International Women’s Day theme is “Give to Gain”.

So, today we’re doing something simple.

For every order placed today, £1 will go to Forgotten Women’s kitchen project in Gaza, which provides daily hot meals to families who have lost homes, income and access to food. And we will match every pound, doubling the total donation.

It’s a small gesture from a small business, but sometimes small actions are where change begins
