Wedding Day Inspo- From Sequins to Strawberry (Marshmallows)

Wedding Day Inspo- From Sequins to Strawberry (Marshmallows)

There are few things in life I enjoy more than nosying in on others people’s weddings. Lazy Sunday mornings are often spent flicking through other people’s friends Facebook or Instagram pics- I absolutely LOVE it. What they wore, what they ate… And I’ve just come back from, perhaps the best wedding I have ever been to. If you’re into this sort of chat then settle in because wow- it was a stunner.
Marshmallow & Macadamia Blondies

Marshmallow & Macadamia Blondies

The blondie – the Debbie Harry to Chrissie Hynde’s brownie- lighter on top but with the same tight leather trousers and uncompromising stare; a statuesque grande dame of the dessert world, as satisfying as that laconic rap in Rapture and a smudgy rim of eyeliner. I use Raspberry & Champagne marshmallows to further lighten the texture- my culinary equivalent of peroxide.

Easter Gift Guide

Easter Gift Guide

There’s a consensus within my family that Easter is far superior Christmas when it comes to enjoyment levels. A lazily long weekend, no pressure to panic buy pressies, the food is lighter, fresher but just as decadent, walks are abundant, the days are brighter, you can go to the pub for longer and it’s, generally, far more relaxed. So if you’re staying with family, visiting pals, throwing a bash and looking for stylish sweet treats to both impress and indulge here are some of my favourite finds for when you ‘shouldn’t have’ but you did anyway because you’re no fool.
Made.com x No House Rules

Made.com x No House Rules

Banging house music, velvet sofas, bare brick walls, gooseberry gin, scoops of vegan ice cream, flashes of neon AND toasted marshmallows. This was a living room party that set the bar high. Thrown by Made.com in their northern showroom and hosted by the game changing No House Rules team this bash was to show off how to style your space and showcase why furniture should be for enjoying, not keeping for best.

Empower, Nurture, Defend

Empower, Nurture, Defend

Hurray for International Women’s Day! As an all women team we’re pretty grateful to recognise and celebrate women’s achievements. But it also gives us an opportunity to take stock at how far we still have to go to achieve equality. I always feel a little conflicted about marketing today- am I undermining  the struggle for equality by using an Instagram post to sell gourmet marshmallows? It’s about empowering women culturally and politically – it’s not Black Friday For Her.

A weekend in Bordeaux

A short Ryanair hop and there we were in the south west of France- that familiar waft of excitement as the plane doors opened. And within 2 hours we were sat in a tiny traditional bistro with 2 glasses of red wine teetering on the edge of a zinc table, as a jazz singer lulled us into devouring a plate of burrata with truffle. Because here the pressure is off. Unlike Paris there is no ‘having’ to go to galleries or monuments or ‘sights’ - nope. Here, you can have a weekend of breezing between eateries, wineries and dawdling.
Baileys + Raspberry Mallow Hearts

Baileys + Raspberry Mallow Hearts

Every year I assume that my boyfriend and I don’t ‘do’ Valentines Day. Hahahah. It’s a bit naff isn’t it? I scoff. And every year. EVERY year he buys me a super thoughtful and generous gift. And I feel like a total sh*t. A total shi*t who then has to panic buy overpriced ingredients on the way home from the bakery to look as though I hadn’t ‘forgotten’ we actually do ‘do’ Valentine’s day. Eeeks. Surprise! It was always my intention to cook us something lovely. With champagne. *scribbles on back of hand* do NOT forget champagne.
how to run a food start up, small business fails, foodie start up life,

Why January got personal

It’s pretty hard when you create a brand around yourself- your story, your journey, your recipe not to take things personally. My business is personal. Completely and utterly personal. So decisions that harm the business are completely hurtful and harmful to me. Everything from unpaid bills, reneged contracts, thoughtless comments. It doesn’t get ‘handled’ by an ‘account manager’ it gets picked up by me and, wow, does it sometimes get too much.
