Empower, Nurture, Defend

Empower, Nurture, Defend

Hurray for International Women’s Day! As an all women team we’re pretty grateful to recognise and celebrate women’s achievements. But it also gives us an opportunity to take stock at how far we still have to go to achieve equality. I always feel a little conflicted about marketing today- am I undermining  the struggle for equality by using an Instagram post to sell gourmet marshmallows? It’s about empowering women culturally and politically – it’s not Black Friday For Her.

A weekend in Bordeaux

A short Ryanair hop and there we were in the south west of France- that familiar waft of excitement as the plane doors opened. And within 2 hours we were sat in a tiny traditional bistro with 2 glasses of red wine teetering on the edge of a zinc table, as a jazz singer lulled us into devouring a plate of burrata with truffle. Because here the pressure is off. Unlike Paris there is no ‘having’ to go to galleries or monuments or ‘sights’ - nope. Here, you can have a weekend of breezing between eateries, wineries and dawdling.

Baileys + Raspberry Mallow Hearts

Every year I assume that my boyfriend and I don’t ‘do’ Valentines Day. Hahahah. It’s a bit naff isn’t it? I scoff. And every year. EVERY year he buys me a super thoughtful and generous gift.

how to run a food start up, small business fails, foodie start up life,

Why January got personal

It’s pretty hard when you create a brand around yourself- your story, your journey, your recipe not to take things personally. My business is personal. Completely and utterly personal. So decisions that harm the business are completely hurtful and harmful to me. Everything from unpaid bills, reneged contracts, thoughtless comments. It doesn’t get ‘handled’ by an ‘account manager’ it gets picked up by me and, wow, does it sometimes get too much.

Festive Feasting

Festive Feasting

There was a point (about a week ago) when I thought I would never get a chance to sit down ever again. When falling into bed still wearing kitchen whites and covered in little bits of packing tape was going to be my life now. But guess what? I’ve finished- it’s Christmas Eve and I have the next few days just to eat and drink with my family and watch Christmas films and complain about the too many Mars in the Celebrations tub. So, having spent the entire of December not sitting down to eat properly and despairing of my food choices, I will be feasting.

Graphic Gift Guide

Graphic Gift Guide

Our marshmallows are mostly bought as gifts. Which means we spend a lot of time thinking about gifting. We like to think of our marshmallows as the perfect pressie- quirky, stylish, bold, different. And, crucially, under a tenner. So when it comes to choosing a creative gift for Secret Santa or sensational stocking stuffers we thought we would share our expertise. So here's our graphic gift guide- a collection of equally cool, typographically bold, beautifully designed gifts that are, also, under 10 quid.
